BALLET

THE FOUNDATIONS OF DANCE

Our Ballet Program

Ballet is a crucial part of any dancer's education because even the most modern styles of dance incorporate ballet technique to some extent. For our youngest students, we provide classes that engage the child in age appropriate activities integrating drama and music along with the excitement of basic dance steps, creative movement, and dance vocabulary. At the next age level, students will be introduced to the ballet barre and will be taught correct placement. Dancers at this age start to memorize the combinations instead of imitating the teacher and perform with more independence. In  our intermediate and advanced classes, students are introduced to an increased level of formal training consisting of barre and centre work. The posture, placement and comportment of classical ballet will be emphasized. Students showing the most advanced skills in ballet might also be invited to join our pointe classes.
