DIVA DOLLS

This is a beginner level competition class for students with little to no dance training. If you know that your child would like to compete, the younger they start the better. Students  (ages 5 to 7) will learn tap, jazz, and ballet. Placement in Diva Dolls is by instructor invitation or audition. The basic requirements for admission to this class are:

  • student must be able to retain choreography
  • student can demonstrate basic technique throughout a routine
  • student can demonstrate the use of facial expressions during a performance


GLAMOUR GIRLS

This is a beginner level competition class for students who possess some previous dance training.  Students (ages 8 to 9) will learn tap, jazz, and ballet. Placement in Glamour Girls is by instructor invitation or audition. The basic requirements for admission to this class are:

  • student must have a single pirouette and is close to having or does have at least one extension
  • student must demonstrate basic technique throughout a routine
  • student must demonstrate the use of facial expressions throughout a performance


SASSY SQUAD

This is an intermediate level competition class for students with at least one year of competition experience or who meet all of the placement requirements. Students (ages 9 to 10) will learn tap, jazz, and ballet and will have an introduction to lyrical. Placement in Sassy Squad is by audition only. The basic requirements for admission to this class are:

  • student must have a single pirouette, at least one extension, at least one leap, and at least one turning jump
  • student must demonstrate clean, intermediate-level technique throughout a routine
  • student must demonstrate the effective use of facial expressions throughout a performance


SHOWSTOPPERS

This is an advanced level competition class for students with at least three years of competition experience or who meet all of the placement requirements. Students (ages 11 to 13) will learn tap, jazz, and lyrical. Placement in Showstoppers is by audition only. The basic requirements for admission to this class are:

  • student must have a double pirouette, at least one extension and/or split, at least two leaps, and at least two turning jumps
  • student must demonstrate clean, advanced-level technique throughout a routine
  • student must demonstrate the effective use of facial expressions throughout a performance

​Available for teens who have competed before, have completed one year of the Teen Combo class, or who meet all of the placement requirements. This is a beginner competition class for the late bloomers who want that next level of commitment! Students (ages 13 to 17) will learn jazz and contemporary styles of dance in addition to the ballet technique they are required to take in their Teen Technique class. Placement in Competition Teen is by instructor invitation or audition.

JR. COMPANY

This is an advanced level competition class for students with at least five years of competition experience and who meet all of the placement requirements. Students (ages 14 to 15) will learn tap, jazz, and lyrical. Placement in Jr. Company is by audition only. The basic requirements for admission to this class are:

  • student must have a triple pirouette, at least two extensions, at least one split, at least three leaps, and at least three turning jumps
  • student must demonstrate clean, advanced-level technique throughout a routine
  • student must effectively emote to an audience throughout a performance


COMPANY

This is an elite level competition class for students who have completed at least one year with Jr. Company and who meet all of the placement requirements. Students (ages 16 to 18) will learn at least one routine in each of the following disciplines: tap, jazz, and lyrical. Placement in Company is by instructor invitation only. The basic requirements for admission to this class are:

  • student must have a triple pirouette, at least three extensions, at least two splits, at least four leaps, and at least three turning jumps
  • student must demonstrate clean, elite-level technique throughout a routine
  • student must effectively emote to an audience throughout a performance

At LA Dance, we recognize that some students have the drive and ability to pursue a more disciplined, rigorous, and competitive dance environment.  As a result, we provide a full complement of Competition Classes open to those with the strong desire to take their craft to a higher level.


LA Dance Competition Classes require a tremendous commitment on the part of the students and parents involved.  Before parents and students make a decision regarding their involvement, they should carefully read the LA Dance Competition Classes Policies and Procedures document linked below.

Come to the studio on August 1st through August 3rd from 12:00 to 7:00 to register for the 2017-2018 dance year!
